Why do I have any credibility about willpower or how to "get things done" without it?

My predicament was captured in 2014 with a Strengths Analysis, which takes 60 different competencies and strengths, and categorizes them into four group, including:

Things I find easy and do well, and I know it

Things I do well, but it takes effort

Things I find easy and do well, but DON'T know it

Weaknesses... that I should simply not use.

This is where my lived reality was confirmed: for the competencies related to willpower, I had 69% of them in the "weakness" category.

And yet somehow I've managed to live a fulfilling, happy life, with love, accomplishments and that amorphous concept, success!

Since I have over 30 years experience in Adult Education, my natural propensity is to research, dissect and repackage knowledge into bit-sized, digestible morsels of applicable knowledge. So this writing is my attempt to understand and share the ways I, and hopefully you, can use our other powers, competencies and skills to help us succeed, however we may choose to define success.

I am fascinated by real-world, applicable insights into what makes individuals and groups successful, and how scientifically validated studies in enriching psychology can enrich lives. As I try to understand my Tourette Syndrome, my curiosity has been sparked to understanding the workings of the human mind, which have lead me to explore and apply revelations about neural-plasticity, positive habit formation, behavioural intervention techniques, self-awareness practices, and strengths analysis and utilization.
